Advancing with Watercolor: "Order Up!" Working with Figures
Description:
In this episode of Advancing with Watercolor I share techniques and strategies for working with light figures in a dark environment.
Most of the time when I am using figures in a painting I am using darker figures against a light background but there are some occasions when a lighter figure against a light figure against a dark background work as well.
Ot should be noted that the former is easier
Try to avoid small figures
Pay attention to the mid tone
Connect the lights
Reserve the strongest contrast for your main figures
Paint the figures first
We are painting the pick-up window at Woodmans - a very popular restaurant on the Northshore in MA - our focus is the busy interior with several chefs in the background , plates and boxes on the counter signage - a lot of new things so one of the main parts of this lesson is on how to simplify the scene.
