Advancing with Watercolor: Cafe Life
— Victor Hugo
Description
Light floods into the interior bouncing off tabletops, glasses and the model
Introduction
We are sitting in a cafe looking out. In quite contemplation the interior is rich and dark next to the windows which let the most amazing light come into - colored pick by the red canopies. The interior is a unique genre - modern in a sense yet as old as painting itself. Contrast daylight through the window, highlights on the shiny surfaces - the atmosphere tinted with overhead lights and the glow of the awnings. Narratives start to present themselves - in todays painting a young writer over a cup of coffee is looking outside - we can somewhat guess her thoughts but who knows really - it would take a conversation to know
