Advancing with Watercolor: Interiors "The Table"

Week 4 -THE TABLE

The Table is almost as sacred as the kitchen - Certainly I remember growing up that it was a place to meat and enjoy a warm meal, catch up with each other and solve problems …Our dining table was always welcoming and my mom made a special effort when company would come. I suppose the role of the Tables has not changed much over the years. More intimate and practical than the parlor - a good meal becomes a lifelong memory :)

Todays table is absent of guests - our table is simply a visual manage of plates, and furniture with a doorway letting in the summer breeze - I can still taste the Mediterranean flavors. The Table is the one and only guest - people would change the course of this paintings lets leave them out of this one :)

We continue to build our fluency with edges focusing more on how we can use our brushes in different ways to create different edges..

Edges

We build on last weeks exercise with an underpainting though with some differences. We are much more sensitive to each brush stroke and the mark it registers and try to incorporate this into our work from the begging. Dry brush made with quick sweeps of the brush  deeper thicker strokes placed into a wet area. Let water do the blending we want our brushstrokes to read clearly…

What will you need this week

I am creating 2 paintings - the same size 11 x 15 taped to a board

BRUSHES

A large flat 2” and a 1 inch flat, a couple of sabelette rounds large and small..

EXTRA
Tape, spay bottle, paper towel, hair dryer

COLORS
Yellow ochre, sepia, burnt sienna,  cobalt blue, , Juane Brilliant white,

A TONAL STUDY

I do a thorough Tonal study which I begin to find my way with a brush
A swoop here a dash there…think like Zorro!!! Its a bit easier than the color version which we will try nextI am using neutral Tint for this along with the same brushes…
