Advancing with Watercolor :Winter Night - Edges
Edges Winter Trees
6 weeks of winter - with a concentration on edges This week we look a little more to working with rough edges We will use rough paper and dry technique to build the winter trees. Later we compliment all of our dry technique with another practice of wet into wet as we paint the reflections
What will you need this week
This week I am working on rough paper - I feel this surface contributes a lot to the texture Iw ant to create using dry technique.
I am using cad yellow light, yellow ochre, burnt Sienna, Ultramarine Blue - Prussian green Jaune Brilliant, Paynes grayBrushes
A large flat 2” and a 1 inch flat, a couple of sabelette rounds - well used - large and small..
Tape, spay bottle, paper towel, hair dryer
This weeks Drill
This weeks drill we will practice some dry technique focused on creating the dry branches that we see against the winter sky - using a minimal amount of paint and a rough surface paper we can create marks that have a fine quality to them with a good amount of control. I use an old group of brushes that are so worn out they can not be used
