Advancing with Watercolor - Interiors - ‘the Window”
WEEK 1 - WINDOWS
In this series we will be looking at various interiors as a may of growing our watercolor vocabulary. Finding meaning in the commonplace. And developing a theme of our own that will inspire others to think about their surroundings in new ways.
Each project has a technical aspect, as well as some design challenges. I am taking inspiration from places I know and I hope you will do the same with your home work.
We start simply with a window
It is hard to imagine an interior with out a window - what a depressing room that would be….withing the context of the interior the window delivers the most beautiful element of light. There is also a connection to the outside world - viewed through a window finally windows can really spice up the whole Interior - architects and interior designers know this and give careful thought to placement and size. For us the window shapes the natural light flooding in and that is the basis of this weeks work
THEME
Our work over the next 6 weeks will also focus on the subject of edges.
By edges I mean the contour or edge of our shapes whether they be window frames, doorways, people and other objects.
The way we create edges is unique to watercolor and we will concentrate on a varied use of edges, experiments with edges, and then translating the shapes and forms we see using different technique
The is the first part of a 6 part series on painting interiors with watercolor. In this lesson we look at a simple interior …There are 2 videos a PDF file and a handful of images included . Enough inspiration for a week full of painting.
